Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

Downtown River Rentals LLC wants everyone to be able to find, read, and book a cottage on this website. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA and we treat accessibility as ongoing work, not a one-time checkbox.

What's built in

• Semantic page structure: landmarks for header, navigation, main content, and footer; one heading hierarchy per page; breadcrumbs on inner pages.
• A "Skip to content" link at the top of every page for keyboard and screen-reader users.
• Full keyboard operation of the menu, FAQ accordions, photo lightbox (Escape closes it), and forms, with visible focus states.
• Descriptive alternative text on every photo; decorative logos are hidden from assistive technology.
• Text and button colors checked for WCAG AA contrast; text resizes with browser zoom; layouts work from 320px-wide phones up.
• Animation (the shrinking header, rotating reviews, accordion icon) is disabled for visitors who have turned on "reduce motion."
• Form fields have visible labels and status messages are announced to screen readers.
• No accessibility overlay widget. These tools don't deliver real conformance, so we fix the site itself instead.

Known limitations

• The booking calendar and checkout are provided by Hospitable inside an embedded frame. We've chosen a provider that supports keyboard use, but we don't control its code. If you have trouble with it, email us and we'll complete your booking by hand at the same rate.
• The Google Maps frame on the location and contact pages is loaded only when you click it; Google's map is not fully accessible, so written directions are provided on the Old Mill District page.
• Some photos show wide-angle views of small rooms; the text descriptions are the authoritative account of each cottage's size and layout.

About the cottages themselves

Physical accessibility: Cottage One has interior steps between the dining room, living room, and lower bedrooms; Cottage Two's entrance is at the top of a set of stone steps. If you have mobility needs, ask us before booking and we'll give you an honest answer about fit.
